We are thrilled that Roo's portrait of Christine has been selected for the 2024 Photo Portrait Prize and will be exhibited at the National Portrait Gallery from 14 November 2024 - 16 February 2025.

Roo made the work as part of the Belstaff Our First 100 Years commission documenting the history of the company in Stoke-on-Trent.

In his own words "Christine is pictured in her childhood home living here while working as a sewing machinist from 1974-1988. It’s now owned by her sister. I hadn’t seen the house before meeting Christine and was instantly struck by the living room when we arrived. We had a tea while she spoke of fond and strange memories working on the factory machines with her siblings before the textile crisis of the 1990’s when many of the town’s factories closed."
